九二一大地震震央地點在南投集集,地震規模達芮氏7.3級(ML),造成中部大批建物的倒塌、龜裂,各地都是傷亡慘重,不忍卒睹。台中港之北碼頭區1~4A號五座沉箱碼頭及後線運轉儲運區等倉儲設施亦遭受嚴重破壞。該五座沉箱碼頭往海側的最大偏移量為168cm,最大沉陷量為57cm,除無法營運外,台中港務局尚需籌資十二億餘元辦理修復,造成雙重損失影響重大。 地震後由台中港務局召開災後原因探討及復建研討會,廣邀國內外港灣專家及學者齊聚一堂,與會專家學者,對造成災損及碼頭沉箱滑動原因諸多探討,部份專家建議,可在沉箱基腳打設止滑樁,另有專家學者建議應提昇沉箱底部與塊石基礎面間之摩擦力,以使沉箱沉放後更加穩固,增加抗震性。 為此筆者希望藉本文進行不同種類(包括混凝土面、橡膠面、止滑墊面及鋼筋棒面)試體模型試驗,求得摩擦係數及抗摩擦角之大小,並與原型混凝土面之抗摩擦角相互比較。 從本文試驗的數據發現沉箱底為鋼筋棒面者可提供最大之摩擦力,使沉箱安放後更趨穩定,可避免在強烈地震發生時,造成沉箱及護基方塊發生滑動、沉陷的損害,茲將該結論提供給從事港灣工程設計者參考,希望藉此設計對沉箱碼頭及護基方塊之穩定有所幫助。 |

The devastating 921 earthquake registered magnitude 7.3 with its epicenter in Chi Chi, Nantou, seriously damaged the north pier of the port of Taichung, Taiwan on September 21, 1999. As a result of this event, the port experienced over a double-folded loss which include operation suspension and a huge amount of rebuild cost of over 1.2 billion N.T. dollars. There were some suggestions mentioned in a seminar that the wharves which constructed of caissons of north pier could be more stable if using a more frictional interface between the caisson’s bottom and the rock mounted foundation. This study was to find out the friction coefficient, angles and the forces among different material surfaces such as rubber, concrete, non-sliding pad and steel bars as well, via a series of model tests. The result of the study led to suggestions of how to adopt a proper material for caisson’s bottom that can increase the friction between the caisson and the rock mounted foundation in order to prevent the caisson and its protection blocks from sliding, sinking and even submerging during a major earthquake. The result of the study from different material used for testing revealed that the caisson’s bottom with steel bar surface exhibit the highest stability for the wharves. In addition, a detailed flow chart for future caisson design and construction is provided for practical application. |
