Abstract

       The purpose of the study is using a thematic method of teaching young children English through music to create a teaching model. The subjects were 25 young children aged 3 to 4. The duration was twenty weeks and twice a week. The teaching content included a Hello Song, Letter Songs, Musical Movement, Musical Storytelling, Music Appreciation and Goodbye Song. The study applied the thematic topics to the teaching content. The main methodology was a qualitative study and quantitative data was used to receive objective support. Assessment included participation observation at the end of the study, with the kindergarten representative, classroom teacher and teaching assistants completing an activity feedback form to obtain the social validity. The study findings: 1. throughout the music activities, young children¡¦s learning of English and performance were progressive. 2. the repetition of the thematic topics enhanced young children¡¦s English learning.
