Applied Chemistry Department organizes campus and affiliated off campus teaching and research resources to offer undergraduate and graduate students updated educations in materials chemistry, biomaterials, organic synthesis, as well as analytical chemistry. The emphasis is on applying chemical theories and principles to industrial application, and adapting students to new perspectives. Thus, for years, the department has been closely allied with regional chemical industries, which broadens the view of students, while providing exciting opportunities to interact with industrial persons and facilities. Our vision is to provide instruction in fundamental chemistry, to foster well-trained technical personnel face the challenges of today’s chemical industry.

Application chemistry department was established in 1994. Currently, two class groups of students are enrolled in the four-year, daytime program. The department has 14 full time faculties and 2 staff. Enrollment consists of over 300 full time students in the four-year program, 60 full time graduate students, over 120 students in the extension program, and about 30 work-studies graduate students.
